- Signs, symptoms, causes, and the impact of illness on glucose levels.
- Glucose regulation.
- How to manage diabetes when sick.
The knowledge gained from this course will help to improve health outcomes, quality of life, and overall wellbeing for people living with diabetes.

Assessment
At the end of the course, you must complete an assessment with a pass mark of 80% to gain your certificate and digital badge.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course you will be able to:
- State target glucose levels.
- Identify the signs, symptoms, and causes of hyperglycaemia.
- State methods for monitoring glucose levels, including finger-stick blood glucose testing and continuous glucose monitoring.
- Describe how to safely perform a blood glucose and ketone check, and when to check and report levels.
- Identify the symptoms of diabetes emergencies (ketoacidosis and hyperosmolar hyperglycaemic state).
- Relate principles of sick day and perioperative management of diabetes.
