After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the impact of diabetes on mental health and recognise when to seek assistance for a client and notify a supervisor.
- Assess a client's self-care skills and support diabetes self-management and multidisciplinary team care.
- Provide evidence-based information, and support and respect individual choices.
- Apply cultural understanding and respect, and adjust communication based on the client’s language and understanding of words.
- Identify and list common diabetes complications, their signs and symptoms, and methods of detection.
- Identify risk factors for diabetes complications (high blood glucose levels, high blood pressure, smoking, lipids).
