Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems (CGMS): data and Insights

This is a learning module that is part of the updated CGM microcredential. It is one of three modules that make up the CGM microcredential.
If you have completed the earlier CGM microcredential, you are eligible to enrol in the CGM Refresher Microcredential, which includes the latest updates, advancements, and awards a digital badge.

This module focuses on interpreting CGMS data and leveraging insights to enhance diabetes care. It includes analysis of key metrics, client education on report interpretation, and strategies to support the emotional and psychological aspects of CGMS use.

Who Should Enrol?

This course is designed specifically for Credentialled Diabetes Educators (CDEs) who work in diverse settings—clinics, hospitals, community environments, and private practice—across rural, remote, and metropolitan Australia. Whether you’re supporting individuals new to CGMS or helping advanced users optimise their experience, this module provides essential knowledge to enhance your professional practice.

This course is designed for you to complete at your own pace. We recommend that you allow at least 2 hours to complete learning content and activities.
This activity has been accredited for 2 CPD points in Category 1 upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.

Assessment
At the end of the course, you must complete the assessment activities and achieve 80% to gain your certificate.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

Learning Objectives

-Describe how CGMS reports are interpreted and analysed, including metrics like Time in Range (TIR) and Ambulatory Glucose Profiles (AGP).

-Identify the roles of the healthcare team and how they can support people with diabetes as they learn to interpret and apply CGMS data to their diabetes management

-Understand how to troubleshoot CGMS functions and daily wear issues

-Develop an understanding of the current research highlighting the benefits and applications of CGMS across different contexts.
